What is cutter suction dredger?

The cutter suction dredger operates by using a rotating cutter head mounted on a suction pipe to cut and loosen the sediment or soil, which is then transported by a pipeline to a designated disposal site.

The cutter head is typically equipped with teeth or blades that are designed to break up hard materials, such as rock or coral, while the suction pipe sucks up the loose material. The material is then transported to a nearby barge or hopper, which carries it to a suitable location for disposal.

Cutter suction dredgers are commonly used in dredging projects for various purposes such as land reclamation, deepening of harbors and channels, and maintenance of waterways. They come in different sizes and configurations to suit specific project requirements.
