According to the technological characteristics of CNC lathes, CNC Turning processing mainly includes the following processing contents.

1. Turn the outer circle

Turning the outer circle is the most common and basic turning method. The outer circle of the workpiece is generally composed of cylindrical surface, conical surface, circular surface and rotary groove. Figure 3-2 shows the method of turning the outer circle of small and medium-sized parts (including the outer rotary groove) with various turning tools. The right offset tool is mainly used for feeding from left to right. It can be regarded as a special form of inner circle and outer circle cutting, for turning the outer circle with right Angle shaft shoulder and the outer conical surface which can not be turned by the left offset tool. Conical surface can be divided into inner conical surface and outer conical surface, the methods of processing conical surface on ordinary lathe are small slide transposition method, tail seat offset method, by die method and wide tool method, etc., and turning cone on CNC lathe, is completely and turning other outer circle, do not have to be so troublesome as ordinary lathe. When turning the arc surface, it can show the superiority of NC lathe.

2. Turn the inner hole

Turning inner hole refers to expanding the hole of the workpiece or machining the inner surface of the hollow workpiece by turning method, which is one of the commonly used turning processing methods. Common car hole method. When turning blind holes and step holes, the turning tool should be fed longitudinally first, and then feed the end face of the car or step transversely when the car reaches the root of the hole.

3. End turning

The common method is to use 45° offset tool to turn the end face, which can be used to cut smoothly and smooth the surface, and both large and small end faces can be turned; 

The 90° left offset knife is used to feed the end face from the outward center of the workpiece, which is suitable for processing the end face of small size or the end face of the general step; The 90° left offset knife is used to feed the end face outward from the center of the workpiece, which is suitable for processing the end face with a hole in the center of the workpiece or the end face of the general step; The right offset tool is used to turn the end face, the tool head strength is higher, suitable for turning the large end face, especially the large end face of the casting and forging parts.

4. Turning thread

Turning thread is one of the characteristics of CNC lathes. In the ordinary lathe can only process a small amount of equal pitch thread, and in the CNC lathe, as long as by adjusting the thread processing program, point out the screw end coordinate value and thread lead, you can turn a variety of different pitch cylindrical thread, cone thread or end thread. The turning of thread can be carried out by single tool cutting or circular cutting.
